He was the son of David Weiss and Johanna Kohn. His siblings were Bernhard and Rosa
Died: 22 Jan 1920 of Typhus in POW camp in Serbia during a war.
Burial: Per his son, Robert, after the war the family got letter from priest stating that Jakab was buried in a mass grave in a Catholic cemetery in Serbia.
Married: Ernestine Blau on 11 Apr 1899 in Vienna, Austria.
Occupation: Jakab Weiss was a very prominent and respected Cantor in Karlsbad, Austria-Hungary (it was a famous spa town and is now Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) He held of the position of Chief cantor known as Obercantor for the Jewish community and had a beautiful baritone voice. He was also responsible for organizing music festivals and he brought famous musicians from around the world to Karlsbad to perform.

Aranka Weiss (Weisz), died at a few days old.
